The sad reality is - there are more deadbeat fathers than good ones (in the single world of course). That's why there IS such outrage on a sentence like this and there SHOULD be more attention to the good ones and making sure they get what they should and not get screwed over.

The sad reality is - there are more deadbeat fathers than good ones (in the single world of course). That's why there IS such outrage on a sentence like this and there SHOULD be more attention to the good ones and making sure they get what they should and not get screwed over.

Family courts can screw both sexes over. If you don't believe it, you haven't seen a mother lose custody to foster care for allegations that were never proven and spending years to get them back. Absent fathers ARE more common and they deserve to be dealt with for creating life and ditching it.

That doesn't mean we should let the crap ones go so the good ones don't get caught up in it, it means we should improve the system for the good ones.
