TODAY: May 24 2016: Toronto Star: “Sixties Scoop” was more then 16,000 Indian children taken by CAS and government. Turns out all unmarried mothers from 1940 to 1970 where targeted by Doctors, Hospitals and the government! They lost their kids as soon as they were born because the moms were unmarried, no other reason was needed! A total of 350,000 Canadian moms and that many kids or more, including twins where affected. 

Mothers were routinely denied their right to see, hold and feed their babies after birth. Some were told their babies died, only to learn their child had been adopted when their child sought them out years later for reunion. Others still do not know if they delivered a boy or a girl. Birth records were often doctored in an attempt to hide what happened. 
Mothers report the use of threats, fear, duress, lies, trickery and even physical force to obtain uniformed consents, with no legal counsel, many signing alone, with only a social worker or two in attendance. Mothers were routinely not given a copy of any paper signed, and were usually not informed of their right of revocation. 

Mothers were returned to the community immediately after birth, still recovering from childbirth, in shock and traumatized from the harsh treatment and loss of their baby, told to keep the secret, never to tell their future husbands, and provided no counselling or aftercare.

Our cruel ‘democracy’ thru secrecy has abused citizens in so many ways: Residential School scandal, 100 years of CAS fraud, Huronia Mental Health abuse scandal and the Sixties Scoop rip-off……what else have they done to us?
