I see these posts from extremely angry fathers. Yet every time there is an inquiry in to the situation for someone to offer advice or share similar circumstances, the thread goes quiet. Why is that? To me, it is the same thing the mothers are being accused of- a false or misleading accusation from a spurned parent looking for validation. And because of this, these individuals make the process we need to overcome that much larger. We need to be better. We can not push or demand change if we ourselves are violating the same principles we expect for us.
A look at history provided an insight into a group of '12 Angry Men' from the US which pushed for a Class Action suit to change the Family Court Laws. It did not happen.
Why? Because it was proven during depositions that 7 of these men manufactured their situations and could not factually substantiate the burden of proof needed for claims being made. 5 fathers with good intentions lost out due to the actions of others. To make things even worse, 2 of the 7 were subsequently found in Contempt Ex Facie.
So I have decided to help do exactly what these Support Groups were meant to accomplish- Advocate and Support the parents that have SUBSTANTIATED CLAIMS. How? The Court of Justice Act provides transparency through Public Access of Family Court Files stating the public is entitled to see any current list maintained by the court of family cases, documents filed in a family case, or any orders signed, unless a statutory provision, common law rule or court order restricts access. Through this mechanism and FIPPA, I was able to locate and initially request the files of 5 family cases in Ontario that are of significant interest based on public comments or advice given from personal experience that has been provided in posts- 1 each in Brampton, St Thomas, Guelph, Thunder Bay and Kingston, giving a good provincial comparison.
I truly hope the information conforms to their description of events and leaves us revitalized to continue to push forward, rather than set us back with more unfounded rhetoric and will provide insight as information become available.
