My wife decided to end the marriage by having an affair. I was told her affair is not relevant as an adult can just end a marriage at any time for any reason or purpose. She decided it was over but didn't tell me so the affair was "ok". I work shift work, so in the best interest of my two children, the kids live with her most of the time.

She is considered the primary care giver, but we have equal custody and guardianship. THIS is what gets me...the government says I have two dependents so I have to pay $1300. a month. But come income tax time, now the government says I DON'T have any dependents so I can't claim them. I'm the one struggling to make the payments but I get absolutely no tax benefits/deductions or credits.

She gets the money and all the deductions. Oh, and if she doesn't need the deductions on her income tax, she transfers the kids tax credits to her new live-in boyfriend.

This guy gets to claim my kids on his income tax even though I'm paying for them. If I try to work harder and put in more hours to pay the bills, she can review my taxable income and get an increase because I've worked harder to try to meet my obligations. I work harder....she gets more. Icing on the cake.....she inherited a huge amount of cash (millions), but it has no bering on my support payments. She doesn't even check the account where my payments go to as she doesn't need the money.

I am still forced to pay even if I lose my house. Canadian laws are rigged to screw over the person who doesn't have the kids, don't they realized the parents may have done what's best for the kids and the other person shouldn't be punished. EVERY case should get individually reviewed, not by each person's lawyer, but by an independent panel. Canada Salmon Arm, BC
